| [TWC] Latest TW Gambit to Screw Users
Once again, my TW internet connection quit working, just when I was trying to complete something before going to bed.
When it was Comcast, it always worked. Well, at least I don't remember when it didn't work.
Winipcfg (the good version on Win 98) said I had no lease, and release all and renew all got a DHCP server unavailable message.
I called the TW number and expected to get a service out in my area message. I thought they might be reconfiguring the system and would post a phone message based on my phone number.
Instead, I got a new one. After going through all the phone options, including the one saying to re-ipl my modem and system, the voice said that they were experiencing a large call volume, could not take my call, and hung up.
Apparently this is TW's concept of 24/7. |

| Are you directly connected to your cable modem? Do you have a router?
If you have a router, this is not a TWC issue. The DHCP lease would then be coming from your router and not a TWC DHCP server. If you are directly connected to the cable modem, powercycle the modem. If you have a modem with a standby button, except for RCA's ... then press the stand by button, and renew the IP. When the modem is in standby, it acts kind of like a firewall, block all connectivity and issues out a 192.168.100.X IP ... If you cant get that IP, sounds like a PC issue to me. |

| reply to bernardj Its technology people, its not gone to be perfect, if it was we all would be with out a job. And TW does not pick a person and say oh I think I'll mess with this person and turn off thier internet. When tw took over comcast and adelphia there were a lot of problems and still are a lot, but in time it will be better, Rome wasn't built in a day. It takes money and lots of money to get things working correctly along with time. Its not like flicking on a light switch, they have to change over millions of people to a different server and that is not an easy process. |
