Today's Chicago Tribune carried a story about a laptop being used by Northwestern University's financial aid department being lost or stolen. It contained the social security numbers of an "undisclosed number" of alumni. Nothing new there. But the laughable part is the concluding paragraph:

"The incident is the third since March 2005 in which individuals affiliated with the school may have had their Social Security numbers accessed by hackers or through computer thefts."

"Dumb as a post" does not do justice to this institution. Any suggestions?
