What are your package's advertised speeds? |
|
NYC Girl Premium join:2007-02-04 New York, NY | 7 / 512, advertised being the operative word. The highest I get is 6924 / 493 and that was a fluke one evening for a moment. |

| reply to NYC Girl I think it's local to you.
And how come none of you guys that use that site don't set up the timezone to reflect what time it is where you are? -- And I'm losing all those stupid games That I swore I'd never play But it almost feels okay. |

| reply to NYC Girl Here in Bayside, NY I've also been getting widely variable results depending on time of day. Used to average about 8500 down and 480 up. Past few weeks been getting more like 6000 down, but sometimes as low as 2 or 3000 down. I thought it was local, but a "next day" test can often return a result as high as the low 9000 's down.
Latency (using Speedtest.net) also varies from as low as about 14ms to highs around 75ms. (same site) .
PS: Even though I have set my time zone on that site, it persists in showing GMT times.
Here is a link to an earlier thread on the problematic speeds in my area:

| You're right about the time zone thing. I just posted a result in dev/null and when I refreshed, it was back to GMT.
I know I'm not in the same area as you guys, but I should be home most of today and I'll try to run tests every few hours to see if it fluctuates. |

| Same here. I am on earthlink and I have been getting 10-20kbs downloads from microsoft, adobe, intel, and other major sites. I can't even connect to adobe and intel and other major sites. What is going on? I can't even connect to rr.com to check on my node status. I usually get 6mbits/400kbs. Anyone know? |

A rep from TW told me there was an outage in Jamaica but where I am in Kew Gardens shouldnt be affected. I have a feeling he is wrong.

| reply to NYC Girl I can't connect to a single website tonight. No way would I be able to run a speed test! I'm growing so tried of twc and their BS. I have been having internet issues since April 5th. Luckily my gf just got a sprint wireless card from work (yesterday), so I'm able to come on and whine about my lack of cable modem rather than punching all the walls in anger. 900kbps on a wireless card is better than nothing!! |
