Re: Decrease in HD "Sharp"ness On Sunday night, May 20 in Mercer County, about 9:30PM, the HD channel reception went bad and there was a lot of breakups on a recurring basis. This lasted all night past 12:00AM. All the HD channels went bad including, HBO, SHO and local broadcast. The next evening, May 21, the picture was back to normal. I assumed it was some kind of isolated technical issue. |

 | reply to JeepMatt Oh I can just hear it now; " Yeah, we looked into it, we went to the cabinet where the cards are; opened it up, it looked like a cabinet with cards so we closed it up." |

| reply to JeepMatt Has anyone else reported this issue to Verizon???
They are saying they have not had other reports of trouble.
Has anyone else called?
If you are in the Philadelphia area, and you are seeing the problem detailed in this thread, please call the Verizon 'Fiber Solutions Center' at 888-553-1555 and let them know you see the problem too!
Make sure a trouble ticket gets opened up for yourself. Don't let them try to schedule a tech visit, just tell them about this forum.
They're not going to fix it unless they know the trouble is wide spread!!
Thanks!! -- We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat! |

| KA- I received the same response today that "there are no issues".
This is beyond insulting. They admitted to making changes last week - and then told me on Thursday they were corrected. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

| I just turned on Food HD - the pic is so washed out it's disgusting.
Every time the scene changes, it becomes blurry amd slurred.
How can they watch this and say there are no problems? This is unreal.
TMC HD is all grainy - MHD is bland. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

nopingno route to hostPremium join:2007-01-09 3 edits | Don't know if I was just imagining it, but I noticed something while watching HBO (SD) earlier. The screen would turn a different "shade" randomly - whiter/lighter than usual. |
|
 | I live near geekgirl and my HD is as clear as can be. I just checked all of the channels you guys listed. Is it possible that it's not affecting our area? |

| rockn, it is always possible it only affects a portion of the CO's served out of Philly.
Unless you watched the channels before May 19, you probably don't know how good they used to look.
I am comparing apples to apples, and the picture quality has gone way downhill since 5/19.
Fios-HD 'WAS' awesome, but now looks worse than comparable satellite providers. I shelled out more than $2000 for an HD picture that was the best there is, but now it tends to look like YouTube.
Hey Verizon Video Tech guys, the picture quality now sucks, and I am still paying for this!!! Just take more than a glance at it this time, and you will see! This time, try opening your eyes when you check.
Please fix the problem soon, or I am going back to Dish!!!
I don't want to have to pay the 'NEW' $74.99 'disconnect' fee that you are introducing as of Jul 13. What company would even consider the thought to FLEECE someone for $75 bucks just to CANCEL their service, but Verizon You can cancel your service if you don't like it, but it will cost you $74.99 to do so. Where does that make any F'ing sense????
The letter I received detailing the 'NEW' Disconnect charge, and the HD-DVR 'Rate Increase' From $12.99mo, to $15.99mo, is total 3u!!S#!t.
I really wish Comcast could provide reliable service to my home, because I would go back to them in an instant at this point.
And I am the guy that REALLY hates Comcast!! -- We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat! |

| reply to KA3SGM What we do know:
It's affecting my CO (Talleyville, DE)
It's affecitng KA's out of West Chester
A poster here from Middletown, DE is seeing it (whatever CO serves there)
So, it's definitely running down 202 to 95...
Could it be only affecting certain CO's out of Philly? It wouldn't surprise me. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

Where does that make any F'ing sense???? Not to get too nitpicky, but I think that $75 disconnect fee only applies if you have Verizon come out to disconnect you. If you disconnect your own equipment and take it/ship it back to them I don't think there's any cost at all. |

JPLPremium join:2007-04-04 Downingtown, PA kudos:1 | reply to JeepMatt Any word from Verizon as to what the cause is? If I'm guessing right, it sounds like they had some crappy equipment that they installed, and were forced to go back to older equipment. Any word on whether or not they're actually addressing it? Just wondering. I did notice some (very little) degradation on a couple channels yesterday - TMC HD looked grainy... but then I put on SHO HD and it looked great. |
|
stu28bu join:2004-11-01 Carrollton, TX | reply to JPL Yeah, they will send you a prepaid UPS label for free, so unless you are unable to box up the set-top box, you won't be charged for a disconnect. Or you can drop it off at certain Verizon stores.
Better than cable who always wants ~$25 to come and physically unscrew the cable.
Besides as costs increase these days (just look at gas), I'd much rather have a company charge more for a specific service than to just keep raising rates for everybody. |

| reply to JPL I'm getting more and more feedback that this may be affecting only certain CO's fed from the Philly headend.
West Chester, Wilmington, Middletown (DE) are all being hurt-
But users in Wayne, PA and Morrisville are reporting razor sharp HD quality.
