New modem installed - New Stats

Below are the WAN stats on the new modem (2700HG-D). Do these look good enough to go above 1536 kbs? The max rate shows 8868 kbs, does it really mean it?

Yes and NO. The max rate of 8mb doesn't necessarily mean that you can sustain such a throughput. It just means that the modem could train at that speed. At least once. Only qwest can look at the cable makeup to your house and tell you if you can indeed get up to the 7mb that they offer.

The thing that really worries me, and makes me question your capabilities, is that qwest has you trained and provisioned at 1536kb down, which is correct, but they only have you provisioned for 640kb upload. That isn't good. That should be either 896kb or 1024kb. If it's a line condition, it will normally train slightly lower. I.e. instead of 1024kb, it might be 996kb or 960kb. 640kb is an old train rate that Qwest uses as a fallback when a customer is having issues. You can't be provisioned for 1024kb and train at 640kb. That's too far apart. You must be provisioned at 640kb. That concerns me. Later... Mike...

christcorp See Profile, I had noted that same thing when the OP posted a while ago:
»Re: What r my options when trying to get faster Qwest products?

I'm guessing a remote terminal is serving the OP. If that is the case, no new modem is going to bring increased speeds until Qwest upgrades the remote dslams for increased speeds. Normally, 1.5 is the fastest Qwest dslam's can handle. There are exceptions, of course.
