What I find particularly amusing is the fact that SoundExchange is demanding a percentage of gross revenue, not gross profit. However, the music industry -- like the movie industry -- uses all sorts of creative bookkeeping techniques in order to minimize royalties paid to artists. So, it basically want gross revenue paid to them, but are only willing to shell out the chump change to the artists after their accountants find every way under the sun to whittle down the dollar figure.
