<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1208091"><b>PeterCollins</b></A> : The only upside to this that I could see would be if it could be used to set precedent.<br><br>Let's say a 3% percent tax is levied on internet access.<br><br>Then let's drop the standard telecommunications taxes to 3% also.<br><br>Not to mention, perhaps, franchise fees on cable.  Also set them at 3%<br><br>That way, any "communications" service is dealt with on the same level. This would hopefully encourage technologists to develop "apps" with the most efficient transport method in mind, rather then jumping to the "well it's VOIP so it's not telephone" approach.<br><br>Video regardless of how it's delivered - 3%<br>Phone regardless of how it's delivered - 3%<br>Internet Access regardless of how it's delivered - 3%<br><br>Flame away.....<br><SMALL>--<br>Peter I.
