This speedtest is fairly typical of the good days when my modem isn't disconnecting at random times and for random lengths of time. They've replaced every piece of equipment in my apartment at least once and the problem persists. I've been with EL/TW since the summer of 2003 and before early summer of 2007 I never had problems using a Linksys befcmu10 modem (which I own) and switching to one of TW's Motorola Surfboard SB4100 modems gave me better download speeds (kinda doesn't make sense to me but oh well) but hasn't done anything for the bad signal I get at various times with no apparent rhyme or reason.

I have had ELNK for about 4 years. Price never changes ($41.95), but speed has been increased substantially over the 4 years. My test results using the tools on this site are more in the 6K range however.

Is there an opinion about which tests are more accurate?

Since you live in NYC...you can switch to Earthlink..but you will not get 5Mbps...their standard here is 10/512 as well :)
