[OOL] Webhosting...difference between Boost and Business OOL

I currently have OOL Boost and am interested in hosting my own websites and mail servers for my business which is an option in the residential Boost service. I was trying to determine if I would gain anything from using the Business service and nothing seems to be different.

All the options appear to be the same and the only difference is the increase in price with no increase in speed or options. Any help would be appreciated.

Stay with Boost. That's what you want, based on your description.

There are two way you can do it with Boost. You can either run your own servers on your own Computer via your OOL connection or you can make use of the Hosting Support that comes with Boost. If the Hosting meets your needs (it is free [ie: Included in your Boost fee] so long as you do not go over the GB/m limit, need more than 1GB of storage, or want "enhanced" support like PHP or MySQL) go with it. Even with Boost Hosting, you can get full support for an extra fee (or just go with another Hosting Service which will give you the extra services for a lower fee [I use a Hosting Service that runs me $55 a year including the domain for all the extra features that Boost Hosting wants an extra $120/Year to get]). The advantage of Hosting as opposed to doing-it-yourself on your own computer is that your outgoing Email (from your SMTP Server) is not subject to getting blocked due to being at a "Dynamic" IPN address. The only advantage of BOOL is that (eventually) you will be able to get a static IPN (needed to run your own servers) as well as getting an IPN that is not in a Dynamic IPN Block/Black list Block.

If you are using the Hosting Support (as opposed to running your own servers on your own PC), you have a static IP (one that points at the Hosting Service's Servers). The only advantage that BOOL w/Static IPN gives you is that when you run your own servers, you will not (in theory) run afoul of Dynamic IPN based Blacklists (since the Static IPNs are supposed to be being allocated from a separate IPN block that is not flagged by OOL/CV as dynamic in lieu of the current system where they are apparently commingled with the Residential OOL IPNs).

So BOOL is currently giving static IP's?

You need BOOL with BOOST (as opposed to regular BOOL) for the static IP. $65/month for new subscribers.

News to me, I just talked to them about 2 months ago, no static IP for BOOL with Boost..
