| reply to cmancool4 Re: [OOL] Webhosting...difference between Boost and Business OOL
said by cmancool4 :I currently have OOL Boost and am interested in hosting my own websites and mail servers for my business which is an option in the residential Boost service. I was trying to determine if I would gain anything from using the Business service and nothing seems to be different. There are two way you can do it with Boost. You can either run your own servers on your own Computer via your OOL connection or you can make use of the Hosting Support that comes with Boost. If the Hosting meets your needs (it is free [ie: Included in your Boost fee] so long as you do not go over the GB/m limit, need more than 1GB of storage, or want "enhanced" support like PHP or MySQL) go with it. Even with Boost Hosting, you can get full support for an extra fee (or just go with another Hosting Service which will give you the extra services for a lower fee [I use a Hosting Service that runs me $55 a year including the domain for all the extra features that Boost Hosting wants an extra $120/Year to get]). The advantage of Hosting as opposed to doing-it-yourself on your own computer is that your outgoing Email (from your SMTP Server) is not subject to getting blocked due to being at a "Dynamic" IPN address. The only advantage of BOOL is that (eventually) you will be able to get a static IPN (needed to run your own servers) as well as getting an IPN that is not in a Dynamic IPN Block/Black list Block. |
