<description><![CDATA[thatwasfun posted : When I had Cox for my phone the tech that installed it said that it was indeed VoIP just a closed system on their network. The reason why it doesn't go out when the power goes is because there is a UPS on the side of your house, in that grey Cox Box, along with an ATA that they are using to supply you with phone. <br><br>If the power goes out for long enough, it will disconnect. They often have this info in the small print on their ads, and would rather keep it a secret Im sure.  ;)]]></description>
