What's the problem with the backlight? The 7290 needed a backlight in any dark situation because you couldn't see anything on the screen without it. On the 8700/8800 the backlight is automatically illuminated depending upon the ambient light in the room/area your in. As soon as you tap any key, the entire screen (and keyboard in low light) will illuminate. There is no seperate backlight key like your using now. It's far more pretty too! -- -Sterling
