| What does the 3Com unit log? Does it log anything? I think there is an option for "detailed VPN logs" in the log setup page. If the 3Com unit logs anything about you trying to connect then turn on those details, try once more and then post the resulting logs here and hopefully I can tell you what the problem is.
If it's not logging anything then either the client is not setup correctly or something is in the middle blocking your data.
