Westell 2200 upgrade firmware failure?

I have been unable to update the firmware to the past two releases (3.07.02 and 3.08.02.) Even with the modem totally reset and back to its defaults, when I tell it to upgrade using either one of those files that I've downloaded, it tells me that there is not enough memory. It also keeps trying and stops at 1%, then starts over again....

Here are the details on my modem:

WireSpeed Dual Connect
Model B90-220030-04
Software Version 01.06.57
Warranty Date April 21, 2004

Anyone know what's going on?

Check the source of those files (BellSouth?) - I'm pretty sure they're for a different modem (6100 maybe?).

I used to be able to get to: »www.fastaccess.drivers.bellsouth.net/ as a non-customer but it's either down or I'm blocked.

No, I grabbed the right ones. Funny, I can't get to that link you posted either - and the other link I used to use:

»ftp.bellsouth.net/

is also down.

I also found this:

»New firmware out 03.08.02

where someone else had this memory problem, though I don't see where it was solved...guess I'll just have to stick with what I have.

The site's up now... I guess it was down.

Maybe the problem was 6100 firmware mis-marked for the 2200. Right now, there's no 2200 firmware there.

Or...

The "B90-Firmware-Upgrade" was misleading since there's also a B90-610030-04. The thread you mentioned netwire did that.

EDIT:

What made me immediately suspicious was 2200 firmware in the 3.x numbers - I didn't think they ever got out of the 1.x numbers so I had to investigate if there was anything out for for my B90-220010-04 but Westell has never released updates like BellSouth has (be aware the BellSouth version is a different animal).

I don't have the BellSouth version and even though Westell has delivered units with later firmware than mine an upgrade path has NEVER been available (and I've abandoned using the Westell as anything but bridged as a result of specific issues).

I also wondered how it went from 1.0xxx to 3.0xxx with nothing in between, too. And you're right, the 2200 section is now gone. But I also hadn't noticed the 6100 in the middle of the filenames when I downloaded them. You're right, they must have both been mislabeled.

Thanks for pointing that out, I would have kept missing what I was seeing.....a second set of eyes is often all that is needed.
