I downloaded a TOP 100 pack from thepiratebay this morning, only to find out that every song was filled with 5 second clips of different random songs.
Nice job RIAA. |

| I remember the first time I downloaded a bogus song it took me a while to figure out, the chorus section was looping around for like 3 minutes and I'm going "damn this song is repetitive!"!!!!!!!!!!! I think that was from Kazaa or eMule... Nowadays I just share files between friends using GigaTribe ( »www.gigatribe.com )...Less songs to choose from since they're only from my friends/family/coworkers, but no more bogus or corrupted files. |

| reply to iEvolution As much as it is badmouthed in this forum, PeerGuardian will help somewhat in weeding out fake file sources on p2p.
Also, it helps to check the comments section on your favorite torrent site and see what others have said about it - and to leave choice comments yourself about it, such as this file is fake.
A Torrent admin will get these fakes pulled off their site before too many users run into them.
And it isn't just the RIAA. One of the MPAA's favorite tactics is to seed fake torrents as well. Disney has gotten caught red handed at this in the past (with fake torrents of the movie Cars). -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot) We are the Hacker Collective: Resistance Is Futile - All Your AACS Keys Will Be Assimilated. |
