Thank You. I live a stone's throw from (supposedly) NASCAR country, and I have asked many a die hard Chevy Fan what the above means, and all
I get is a deer in the headlights look.

I strongly advise you NOT to throw any stones at die-hard Chevy fans.

So how does the W/T work in? Work truck? With Tires?

Also - 1500 = 150 = 1/2 ton....
2500 = 250 = 3/4 ton
3500 = 350 = 1 ton
450 = ?
550 = ?

etc etc etc.....

Sorry, kind of a Ford fan.... used to be a big Dodge fan, but not anymore.... Now, if they would put a Cummins in a Ford, I would be all smiles....

Below is a 4500 and the Series go up in the same rate for tons. 4500 = 1.5 Ton, 5500 = 1.75 Ton, and 6500 = 2 ton, if my memory serves me.

4500 Series
»www.classyauto.com/v/GMC ··· el/38460

5500 Series
»www.trucker.com/TruckDet ··· =1877372

6500 Series
»www.trucker.com/TruckDet ··· =1868500

W, R, V and another code were used and I don't know which they refer to.

Google says that Chevy R1500 and V1500 is the Suburban (one has to be 2WD and the other 4WD). The W/T is Work Truck Silverado style.

Work Truck is a "stripped down" 1500. Has only the bare essentials for use by people that are supposed to be using them to make a living. Companies buy them for their employees to use.

My pickup is a K2500 6.5 TD = 3/4 ton, 4x4, 6.5 Liter Turbo Diesel. I use it to pull a 9000 pound fifth-wheel RV trailer.

R/V had the same meaning as C/K for a few years. R = 2x4, V = 4x4. It was used beginning in 1987 and referred to trucks/SUVs that had the "rounded-line" style. 1987 was the last year of that style for the 1/2 & (I think 3/4 ton) trucks. In late 87 (as 88 models), the newer (IFS) trucks showed up w/ the C/K designations. The rounded-line (using R/V) design lived on through 91 on Suburbans, K5s, Crew Cab ton trucks, and chassis cab ton trucks.

Also, on a side note, there also exists 2500 light duty and 25000 HD trucks. I don't know if you can find them on the lots today, but in the past you could buy either. Both Ford (F250) & GM (Chevy/ GMC 2500) offered such models. For a while, GM also offered a 1500HD. I think it was only on the crew cab models.

You have to ask someone who follows the Truck series...
