The BBR satelite forums were very helpful for me. I prefer the screeching of my modem and 5kbps download speed over satellite because.... I can actually use the service to do more than load pages. |

 | The trouble is, in places where your only choice is satellite or dialup, sometimes the dialup is nearly useless. My phone line here sounds perfectly clear and fine when talking to someone, but a modem on it struggles to hit 9600 baud, and is usually more like 4800. This far out in the boonies, the phone line passes through too many repeaters or coils or whatever, pretty much killing modems. |
