Sattelite out of country?

I run a small online business. and lately I have been getting many orders form an IP from directway hughs sattelite that are questionable.

is it possible that these sattelite dishes are not located in the united states?

can you move your sattelite dish anywhere in the world and it will still work if configured correctly?

Re: Sattelite out of country?

Yes, as long as you can 'see' the satellite your originally commissioned to. I know people from Alaska taking their system to Mexico, configure the long and lat, aim the dish and are up and running.

Re: Sattelite out of country?

Yes. that is the home for Hughes satelite operations. However there are two ground stations one in Germantown/Gathersburg and one in Las vegas Nev. Be advised that you can legally buy Hughes net in most of North America, and most of the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Question.

I have a Hughes Satellite HN7000S. I live in Ohio. Can I pick up my satellite and take it to Guyana South America, relocate it, pick up satellite and continue to pay my bill from Ohio. At the same price 59 per month, continuing to pay from Ohio

My new long and lat will be
N 05 degrees 55.937'
W 058 degrees 18.370'

This was off my GPS when I was last there

Thanks for your help

Re: Sattelite out of country?

Not quite sure without knowing the footprint of the satellite you are on. Post your satellite, and maybe someone on this forum know the footprint of it.

Not anywhere in the world, no, but anywhere in North America would probably work.

Not sure what that would be the info is as follows

Longitude 89 West
Receive Freq 1270 MHZ
Router address 67.142.140.93

Is that it, or how can I determine which one I am on

Thanks for your help.

Thanks

Does the foot print mean you have reception anywhere inside the circle or only in the paths that the Satelit takes.

Sorry I am a plumber,

Thanks Greg

Re: Sattelite out of country?

Guyana is outside the footprint of your satellite, so it will not work there.

Thanks You have helped me more in this last hour, than 2 weeks of trying to gather info.

Can I take my system and set it up for another satellite that would be able to communicate. We have a mission there and trying to establish communcation reasonably. I have ele but no phone lines. just needing email. Are there any other alternatives

thanks

Re: Sattelite out of country?

There must be satellites that are covering Guyana, but Hughes is focused on north America. To make it short: Forget about taking your system down there, but you might find another provider in south America offering satellite internet connection. - Good luck.

I browsed their web site, do they handle residential systems, or where would I look for a small system by another carrier that uses that satellite

That is great. I appreciate your help so much. I have worked initiating a mission in that village. We have youth camp, medical mission, and two churches. This last year I gathered up 24 used computers to begin a computer training lab there. Unemployement rate is 98%. We got everything going but communcation with my local friend is limited until he can get to town to internet. Maybe once a week or so. Hard to help with limited communicatins. I was hoping to take my Hughes Sat, with me in suitcase and reinstall it down there, or buy another one and take with me. Funds are limited so I was hoping to continue the 59 per month from here. By going on another Sat does that change monthly cost? Appreciate your help

Re: Sattelite out of country?

There is no simple way to get HughesNet to reassign your satellite. However, there are a few methods that may work.
-Cancel service, sign up again, they may need to put you on a different satellite.
-Call and say you have a neighbor or something constructing a barn/shed/house in the way of your HughesNet system and the only other window you have is to SatMex 6.
-Call Montana Satellite and ask them what options you have. They're licensed installers and can sometimes request repoints for you.

A few others may have better solutions, but these are methods that seem like they would work. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could give you information on getting reassigned to a different satellite.

Thanks for your help. I am contacting our local installer to see if he can set me up with new system locked on to that satellite. Appreciate your suggestions I am just learning.

Re: Sattelite out of country?

You could also look into BGAN systems - small & portable. Not sure of the cost.

Last quote I had was approx $4000.00 CDN for the unit and $8.50/MB (USD) for data.

Ouch

Re: Sattelite out of country?

Quick search found a Hughes BGAN terminal for $986. Also, you can leave it "Constant-on" and still only pay for data sent/received. Definitely not for heavy bandwidth needs, but for email only, it's an option. No dish necessary.

These guys offer a FREE terminal with the purchase of 100MB of data for $745. Not bad (for some users), IMO.
