yeah. So they just issued a watch for us. I used DMT and manually changed the noise margin and put the slider in the middle. Lets see what this does.

Demarc into a APC UPS and then into the modem.

Hey Marc,

What type of work gets dome when changing a loop? What types of problems will this fix?

Picture this:

|house|----|nearest pedestal|----|pedestal the next street over|----|remote/co/DSLAM|----|Bell wan|----|TekSavvy|----|internet|

They replace the copper pair of wires from the house going to the next pedestal or dslam. Usually its part of a bigger bundle that has many copper pairs in it. Sometimes the bundle gets damaged underground and the plastic coating split open and water or other things can get in there. When there are storms and things like this the wires, having lost their shielding get affected by the ground current.

twice in the past 5 years they have come and dug up and replaced the line from my house to the bundle of lines under the front lawn. Big hole in lawn, cut open bundle, replace line, reseal it all. This was all due to static on the line.

Funny thing is there is no pedestals on this street but anything they are doing something there is a huge one about 3 streets over they always goto.

It looks like this but without the DSLAM on the back. I wish it had a DSLAM i'd be very very happy.

@bell.ca
More like between the box 3 streets away , an OPI, and his house. With no pedestal, its all buried ungerground so if something goes wrong, get the shovel out. MInd you it could be between the OPI and CO, but most likely the other way.

Is that what that add-on to the cable box is for? I noticed that Bell installed on in my area last week (it wasn't there before) and I was going to take a picture and post it asking what it was!? Cool!

That would be the important remote DSLAM that every wishes they had in their front yard so they could get full speed DSL and even ADSL2 if avilable soon.
