| What happened to the Inside Insight forum ?
This forum used to be happening, I've been watching it for a while now and there's very little activity anymore.
On a side note, some of you might remember me...I used to be a 4.0, I switched to DSL to be a 6.0 for less then the current Insight rate, but now, I am proud to say I'm a 10 as of a few days ago |

| i figured that would be the answer, most of the posts here were about people having problems with their internet connection...
anyone know when we're going to go all digital or even a digital simulcast or maybe get a box that up-converts to HD like my Dish box does ? (I currently have Insight and D*, but am thinking about dropping Insight cable cuz of the channels looking like crap on my HDTV)
for those wondering, from Insight I have the DCT6416 and the D* VIP622. |

2 edits | Just echoing what others here have said. My internet service since the beginning of the year has been great. I get speeds at or better than the 10 mbit down, website and/or backbone permitting. Connection has been reliable. The only outage I've had has been on my end, which is usually my Linksys router deciding not to respond for some reason, requiring a power-cycle.
Like you, I'm not thrilled with the Moto HD box either. The official instructions downloadable from Moto state that you can change the box to up convert SD programming to 1080i or whatever resolution you want to be your default, but Insight has the TV Guide stuff which eliminates the system setup menu. I've tried hitting menu with the power off as someone once suggested (don't remember where I read that), but all that does is display "16.9" in the segmented LED display. While I can watch SD without up-converting fine, the 5-10 seconds of no picture/sound while my TV switches SD to/from HD is annoying.
Ah well...maybe that's worthy of another or different thread. |

join:2006-05-09 40515-5407 | reply to Couch Potato Actually the Motorola manual says it will upconvert the anaolog signal to hd by changing the setting next to 4x3 override to 480p. That is is the menu accessed by turning the box off and hitting the menu button twice. |

| Well, I was able to get the setup screen to show...but I only needed to hit menu once with the unit in standby. I thought I was doing this before, so I'm guessing I originally did a 1D10T and didn't have the TV switched on, had it set to the wrong input such as my DVD player, or something brilliant like that.
Anyway, as others here have said, 480p and 480i are not HD...and not what I was looking for. These are the only options that I can get to show for the standard definition 4:3 setting. Looks like these boxes do not up-convert SD resolutions to HD - the TV must do that. At least I got that setup screen to show.
Sorry to deviate from this thread...but didn't feel it worthy of a new one at this point. |
