| Re: Roadrunner Router of choice? LA,CA I've got a few years old Linksys BEFSX41 and a WRT54GS V4 I've been using for a few years just south of you in San Diego. I don't notice much difference between the two and no performance issues with either on RR at 5/368.
I think the WRT is faster for bittorrent, but haven't ever really confirmed it.

| Re: Roadrunner Router of choice? LA,CA Well I am just asking cuz back when I was on Comcast I remember they had issues with some of the D-link routers and all. Now since I am buying a router for a friend of mine and I am not on RR and I live on the other coast I figured I would ask first. Thanks for your reply. | |

| Re: Roadrunner Router of choice? LA,CA Well I have had my WRT54G just on linksys firmware through comcast for years and never had a problem with it and I never had to reboot it other than when making changes and I run torrents almost nonstop.
The person I am getting this is not a power user in any sense of the word. So I think it would be overkill to add all that for them. I sent them a WRT54GL cuz like you I think Linux is the way to go. I don't want to be their tech support so I left it stock so if they have a problem they can call Linksys and not me. lol My parents and brother keep me busy enough with their problems.

For my WRT54GS V4: Firmware Version: v4.71.1, Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c
man we get screwed on speed in San Diego vs. LA. I wouldn't mind a little downtime during ownership transition for those speeds.

| My gosh. I can't believe your numbers and am so envious I feel sick. I'm in Ohio and am getting 5072 down and 450 up wireless. I've got to do some digging and find out what I can do - if anything to get my speeds improved. I may not be able to match yours, but why am I paying all this money when I can see there is much better service to be had.
Wish me luck as I think I'm going to need it.
