This is new: SSL not supported by server

I had sent about a dozen emails earlier today. The first few went fine, but the last couple are failing with the following error.

Task 'mail.sbcglobal.net - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC7D) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) server does not support SSL-secured connections. If SSL-secured connections have worked in the past, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Did ATT change their mind about SSL for the mail servers?

No - didn't change our minds. What's your outgoing server set to and the port number?

Outgoing is set to 465...just like the email said.

After rebooting and even cycling the modem, I got the same thing for about two hours. Incoming email was find, but no sending. Suddenly I hear the "ding" from outlook that the send was successful. When I checked the outbox, it was empty.

Who knows why it was weird for a couple of hours??? Must have been some server goofiness.

Task 'mail.sbcglobal.net -

Change the POP server to pop.att.yahoo.com.
Change the SMTP server to smtp.att.yahoo.com.

According to your error message, you didn,t change to the att servers you are still using sbcglobal.

My guess is he didn't change the NAME of his Outlook profile. That's why I asked what the outgoing mail server was.
