Nova made a good point assumeing the bot-net stays static.
So that brings up another question? Can a bot create another bot if it finds a vulnerable PC or would the operator have to create the new bot?

Once spread widely enough, the better botnets don't need their owners anymore. They have AI in the form of neural networks using IRC/Usenet as their links. Don't take much ASM to make an "intelligent" bot capable of simple logic.

Hell, ya can buy whole botnets on IRC...it's the 'new' pharming..WoW/EverCrack accounts are old news.

Me, I block spam at the server..if that don't work, I'll send 'em a Gigabit Hello message from a country they can't pronounce.

Works pretty well so far.
