 | New digital divide? It's a bit much to say there will be a "new digital divide." First, Fios is only available in a fraction of the country to begin with. Second, much of the country has affordable broadband access already, in the form of cable and DSL. Third, Verizon is moving into cities--see for example NYC. Cities, with their dense MDUs, are too profitable to pass up, and the cable operators are ramping up their efforts in cities, so VZ must move in to compete. Yes, FIOS is nice, but not life changing or digital divide material. |
