| Luanchcast Plus problems
It's been a long time since i've used Launchcast Plus ... but I decided today to resurrect "my station" ...
I had to first relearn that it doesn't like Firefox.
Then it messes up the system volume controls ... tweaking the system volume control usually results in a blackout.
Next it rarely changes the song being played display ... sometimes it changes, sometimes it doesn't.
"Skip" button seems like it's stuck down and skips song after song.
Then between 2 to 5 songs it usually kills the player window, and all the open IE windows used to open the player!
Really frustrating.
This is XP Pro (32 bit) on an AMD 64X2 |

1 edit | A bit OT, but I never tried this. Is it available only to residential accounts, or can a business customer use it as well? I've never used any of the Rogers features though I do have an email account set up.
Well, I tried it with my rogers email account, and i can only use the regular LaunchCast, not Plus, so only the medium quality is available, which is crappy. It did work fine with no apparent issues with the volume or skipping as you mentioned. I am using XP 32bit with IE6 here at work. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! Yeah I logged on with the main account. So are you able to use the plus version with the higher bandwidth on your extreme account? Just checking. I might have to bitch to rogers and see if business people should be getting it as well. might be handy sometime. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! Thanks for pissing that one point away sometime this season... |

sbrook Premium,Mod join:2001-12-14 H0H 0H0 | OK, solved ... log in to rogers.yahoo.com, then select Music and then Radio ... you'll now come to Rogers Music and not Yahoo! music ... which gives you Plus! |

sbrook Premium,Mod join:2001-12-14 H0H 0H0 | With the change to LaunchCast Plus, now it doesn't simply die ... it tells me there's been a streaming error, forcing me to close the player then go back into the main page. Hitting skip will cause this ... and it will still die on its own. |

3 edits | OK, it works. I logged in at home and I'm not even on Rogers connection hehe... Sound quality on high isn't even all that great, seems less than 128kbit mp3. Lacks highs and depth. Oh, and its not displaying some song infos either.
Pfft, i just checked at the bandwidth usage while listening to the "high quality" stream, and its 9.5KB/sec. That's pathetic. I'd be pissed if i paid for this stuff heh. I'm guessing its using some sort of WMA, probably 64kbit. CD Quality my ass, what a pathetic lie. -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF! Thanks for pissing that one point away sometime this season... |

It uses windoze media player suitably disguised. |

| reply to sbrook I had problems and then realized I was signing into the US site. While it still acknowledged my account I was not getting the 'high quality/no ads version.' Once I started signing into »ca.music.yahoo.com/ it worked fine.
I also had problems when using IE 6. Now that I've upgraded to IE7 I've had no problems and usually listen to it for 4-5 hours a day. |
