Comcast service sucks?

Say it ain't so. I suffered with horrid Comcast service before our system was traded to TWC. Since then speeds are up nearly 100% and my price down almost 20%.

I am finally beginning to enjoy being a Time Warner customer instead of a Comcast customer. That said, the Los Angeles transition to Time Warner was extremely rocky, with a lot of PO'd customers and busy call centers.

Hopefully some of Houston's pains will be relieved once the transition is finished.

I've got some coworkers in Valencia that suffered through the transition of Comcast to TimeWarner, and still have issues (HD outages with blank screen, poor quality on Vonage). With the bandwidth on TimeWarner in Valencia, it shouldn't be an issue. I'm on a measly 1984/512kbps DSL sync, and I've had reliable Skype.

I've had the exact opposite. I've had Comcast for about 1 year, and have yet to have problems. I have the digital package with the HD add-on, plus analog for 2 other TV's, plus the 8/.75 package. As far as the TV goes, I have yet to see a problem with the feed, and the box has worked great, the analog channels don't have static or ghosting. As far as the internet goes, I have yet to get less than my rated speed (unless it was a server that couldn't push data to me that fast), my ping is great, almost always under 50ms to any server in the US, often less than 35ms to the west coast. The only outage I've seen is when the power went out, and the cable went down with it. My UPS kept the modem on, but it lost sync. The installer that came out was on time, (appt time was 1-4pm, he showed up at 12:55pm). He knew exactly what he was doing, and even made me a few extra coax cables for when I got the TV's moved to the new place. He even tested all the coax outlets in the house to make sure they worked, for free. For the digital w/ HD, and gold HSI, my bill is about $102/month, and the 6 month intro price has come and gone, so this is normal price. I own my cable modem (SB5100), which has also been outstanding.

I had DTV, and while their service was pretty good, they wanted too much money for the 3 TV's + HD, and HSI DSL from qwest. I would have gotten less service for more money had I stayed with them. All the people I know have had good experiences with comcast vs. DTV/Dish, the service reps from comcast are about standard call center employees, but they have always called me back, and have gotten my issues solved in a timely manor.

The HD freezing problems were *maddeningly* annoying. So annoying we got very close to ordering DirecTV, but fortunately they seem to have fixed that.

I haven't had any trouble at all with the internet side of things. Very solid, super fast connection, tests around 9800/980 pretty much at any point in the day. My line monitors don't show any problems with latency (other than when I'm maxing out my connection )

Yeah - coworkers haven't had problem with the Internet itself, but Vonage quality hasn't been consistent, which is kind of strange, especially with the amount of bandwidth. I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue with TW digital voice service

I feel sorry for the people that "HAVE" to call in in the first place. Who operates your computer equipment in your own home?

Summary: they offer the service but you have to be smart enough to set it up and then operate it. These companies will hire anyone that walks in off the streets but you still call their customer/ technical support lines knowing that those agents are not trained to support that product. I know, ya gotta vent to someone cause nobody else will listen to you except for the agents that get paid to listen to you.

I've been a Comcast customer - TV and internet - for over 5 years, and have had nothing but a positive experience with excellent service and good tech support (on the one or two occasions I've needed it).

TW Digital Phone actually does not use the Internet. It uses a dedicated part of the Cable network and goes from there. The voice services do not touch the public internet. All is routed over their private network to the PSTN.

I know... that's why their pricing is as high as POTS here in So-Cal.
POTS unlimited on at&t = $39.95 + $4.95 for Canada
Discounts with DSL and/or Wireless
TW VoIP = $44.95 ... discount with HSI and/or TV

You can get Digital Phone on promotion all the time without any other service. TWC runs them sometimes they just don't advertise them in the main stream/

Yeah... but that's only an intro price, and its good for only upto 12 months. Since I'd have to pay for all the startup, it pretty much negates it all. I receive them all the time in the mail. I just received one for DirecTv, $10 / month off for 6 months.

The thing with TWC is after your promo you can actually sign up for another promotion. It just doesnt go up. It's up to you to keep your bill low and they don't tell you when the promo runs out either.
