| reply to RadioDoc Re: [Connectivity] Contacted by Comcast Abuse Dept Today...
said by RadioDoc :... Enabling your customers to self-police effectively has got to be cheaper than hiring malcontents and sociopaths to call them up and threaten them. ... Precisely! If Comcast subscribers, rather than Comcast engineers, are tasked with policing network traffic, it would be a trivial task to provide subscribers with the information necessary to accomplish the task. |

Set an alarm (they don't really even need to tell people what the threshold is which should keep the fangrrlz and apologists happy) and enter an email address or text message ID to notify when it goes off. Customer ignores alarm at own peril.
Pretty easy stuff. There are thousands of systems out there just like this from bandwidth alarms to tornado warnings to Aurora Borealis alerts. Hell, even make is a "premium feature".
But for god's sake, Comcast, please stop treating your customers like they've been poisoning puppies. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

Then you ask how fast can you go, the cop says, I cant tell you, but just dont do it again. Having no idea or help from Comcast what too much is, but being the conscientious customer that you are, you do lower you usage. Then next month, with even lower usage, but having no idea what is acceptable, you find out your over, and your account closed. Comcastic! |

| reply to brianj6 People are constantly asking me why I don't switch from my Bellsouth 3gig service to the higher speed Comcast in my area. After seeing threads like this, I remember why. Of course anyone who really reads the countless threads here on this subject sees the bulk of the complaints are not the limits, but the arbitrary, we cant tell you, but will terminate your account if you exceed, limits. |

Which is that at no time are treating my customers like crap acceptable. Regardless of the situation you always maintain a professional respectful demeanor and you go out of your way to help your customers fix the problem/s.
