And now the end is near and so we face the final curtain

To steal the words of Sir Frank.

In November 2001 after a period of lurking I signed up and became an active poster in this Forum. In those days Adelphia's service was less than stellar and this forum was a hotbed of complaints! I actively embraced all discussion about Adelphia's service and enjoyed my frequent long running discussions with Mr Hicker from Franklinville

Here is an example of one, with Macleech as always making the most relevant points

»Adelphia latency vs. 56k latency....hmmmm

This thread contains a visit from some of my other friends Cbyrd and Pale Rider. I believe we drove the moderators mad with this sort of debate but I have to admit I had a lot of fun with Hick.

Talking of Cbyrd one of my favorite threads was when he received a letter from a GM in his area talking about the T! lines his area was using. Its here in all its glory

»Adelphia's bandwidth standards revealed!!!

I tried hard to take it off topic as you can see, even webmaniac put in an appearance.

In 2003 I quit!

»Ciao

but of course I had to return for the Beer threads

»The BEER Thread....

Anyone else want to contribute memorable threads?

Over the years I have made a lot of friends and enemies on this site, I have learned a bunch of stuff from fellow employees and customers but the most important thing is that I have had a lot of fun.

I'd post a list of names but I'd only forget someone, so I will just settle for thanking the moderators for keeping us on the straight and narrow.

I am sorry to see this forum close, I believe over the years this was the premier help forum on DSL reports. I wish everyone all the best whichever company you are now with.

Take Care

Personally my "debates" with emhinkes (now a very reformed IPPlanetman) were memorable. See this example, it was one of MANY:

Getting things fixed was fun too:

When exactly is the forum closing?
Once we know the final areas have been migrated and the party is over. Thanks, goblin, for starting the party!

In that case, we need to make this a Never Ending Party. I don't want to see our happy home go away.

So true. I was singing it "His Way" on the way home yesterday. My introduction to that song went Sid Vicious -> Paul Anka -> Frank Sinatra.

Ahh the good old days. Although they never did admit to any problems, amazingly things got MUCH better once I started filing complaints with State and local officials.

Goodbye friends, it's been a great ride.

So, when exactly does this curtain come down?
This year long or longer adelphia goodbye seems to be the longest one in the history of BBR!

I believe it was fair to keep the forum open until EVERYONE had migrated. The goodbyes have been spaced out as areas migrated piecemeal. Thats why it felt long.

Adelphia is still around. I still see one of TW's contractors displaying "serving Adelphia" sign on his truck.
To each one of you on this forum esp. the techs. Thank you!

I made many friends here and for that I am grateful.

That's him.

He was one of the first characters I came across on this board as he had some serious issues and seemed to post about them daily.

Then there was the Hob's going away "beer-fest" that wasn't to be, I guess the "powers that be" put the cabash to that one.
