My email to abuse@sbcglobal.net received the following response
Thank you for contacting AT&T Internet Abuse.
We apologize for the inconvenience. The advertising is a needed step towards providing world class service at an affordable price.
AT&T Yahoo! now offers an ad-free Business Email service. For more information, please see
»smallbusiness.att.yahoo.com/email/
Thank you,
The AT&T Internet Abuse Department

I am more than willing to pay an additional $34.95 per year to help AT&T recoup the cost of DSL....I am not willing to be forced to purchase a useless, poorly designed email package with a domain name I do not need, to get AT&T to stop SPAMMING me
So, adblockplus works just fine - and will stay in place. If ClearSky is a viable option AT&T has lost a formerly happy customer
As to the Morris stale news comment... I get my news off the internet... doesnt matter if I'm in Morris or Iraq - CNN FOXNews, AP and Reuters serve the same content at the same time |

The Morris comment was a joke.
Anyway, I'm sure AT&T is not going to shed a tear over you leaving. Unfortunately, that's the way the game is played at big corporations these days.

I don't consider ads to be spam; or else the San Jose Mercury, the Wall Street Journal, and World magazine are spamming us to death. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

| reply to Mchart Utter B.S. I pay for my internet service and my email address. Ads shouldn't be there, period. If it was a free email account absolutely, but I "pay" for my email address as well as my internet service. 1 edit | I really don't care as long as I can read my e-mail. But then again I use outlook so it is not an issue for me. I don't think I have ever logged in to my at&t account through yahoo.
Edit: And if it saves me from having to pay $50 or $60 a month for DSL rather then the $26.00 I pay now then I say, "Bring on the Ad's". -- Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much. |

For anyone who feels left out because ads have not yet arrived in e-mail, just wait until they send you the beta of your new home page.
Yes, boyz 'n girlz, now you will not only be able to get ads on your home page, but they are far larger and more animated than ever!
Yessiree, visit the beta and move things around, add stuff or delete stuff and enjoy. Oh, move everything EXCEPT the ads and delete things EXCEPT their ads.
There is a feedback feature where you are warned that they shall own the content of your response. I went ahead and gave my permission for them to own my response. The balance of my feedback probably doesn't qualify to be posted here 'cause this is a family site.
And with a bovine mod, you have to be udderly silly to get too carried away.
Now, where's that link to myway.com ? |

Yes you would think the best way for AT&T and Yahoo to make more money and provide service is to increase/upgrade their areas so more people can get DSL. More people means more money. AT&T should work on this area instead of trying to figure out out to get more out of their current customers. -- Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much. |

Hey, I know for a fact that CNN, Fox, AP, and Reuters all delay the news by three - four hours if the IP shows that it's from Morris. Vindictive bastards!

| reply to Mchart I don't see this as being any different that advertisements in newspapers and magazines. You pay for the newspaper at a reduced cost. Ads subsidize the costs and you pay the reduced price. If there were no ads you would pay a lot more. Since you are willing to pay more and ATT offers a business ad free alternative you should be happy. Those who don't care or are unable to cough up $35/yr to remove ads can stay put. Personally I think webmail is for weenies. OK maybe it's OK if you are away from your normal PC or PDA but otherwise it's awful. Real people use IMAP or POP and ads are not an issue. If you are hellbent on webmail just get a Gmail account and have it pull you ATT mail into it automatically and read it there. A lot fewer and less obtrusive stuff on Gmail. |

Yahoo! has no DSL infrastructure; there is nothing Yahoo! can do to get DSL to more people. You don't think yahoo gets more money from AT&T depending on how many subscribers there are? Also If Yahoo charges clients to advertise would they not be able to charge them even more to place an ad if they have even more subscribers? Yahoo is partnered with AT&T on providing DSL Service. It is called AT&T/Yahoo DSL. So don't fool yourself. Yahoo is making money on this. Both from advertisers and from AT&T. -- Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much. |
