 | B.S. on the Caps I battled Time Warner on caps about 3 years ago. I had a story here where they tried hitting Ohio residents with a 15 GB cap and like 10 dollars for every 5 GB or something over that. DSLREPORTS did a story on this. I contacted my local attorney general and better business bureau. I got them on the fact they offered unlimited internet connection. I told them you specifically state unlimited, i want to connect and download whatever I want on an unlimited basis. Otherwise, stop deceiving customers. Well that went on for a bit and spoke to a woman. About a few months later I got hit with a new round of the letters (got 2 of these I think). Both threatening a 40 GB cap and overage meant you'd be upgraded to business class. I once again contacted the attorney general and BBB. I spoke to same women each of these times. I could tell each time she called, she had this OMG not this guy tone. Anyhow, after the 3rd time and complaints, I haven't heard back from them in at least 2.5 yrs. Funny thing too, that "unlimited internet connection" disappeared off their website LOL. I don't see them advertising that anymore but i've sure been left alone. So in regards to the story at hand, check their site and look for a loophole. Often, their marketing leaves them open for such activity to not be legal. Since every Time Warner website varies, I recommend you closely scour through your own and see if theres a way around packet shaping. There very well might be in some of the wording. If there is, pursue it and make a huge ass fuss. | | |
