Friends don't let friends use Comcast's garbage DNS servers

Comcast has ALWAYS had ongoing DNS problems.

The absolute best thing you can do, and advise everyone else to do, is to dump their DNS servers and use another one. I usually setup OpenDNS for all my friends.

If you read the Comcast forum thread, it doesn't appear to be DNS problems at all. It looks more like provisioning issues and putting some users in the "walled garden" where you can go nowhere until you are re-provisioned properly. How some users got messed up is a mystery. Could have been a problem with some Comcast accounting cleanup process, or some headend mistakenly sent out the "walled garden" cable modem config file. If that was the case, rebooting cable modem could have cleared problem - like some posters said happened.
