Can't get to some sites, can via Proxy, What could it be?

Maybe someone here can help me as I am hitting dead ends in other forums and with Comcast reps and the Comcast forums. Here is my issue that started Friday night.

I can connect to the internet just fine, but certain sites I can not access when using my Comcast Service. And there are business sites, not gaming or anything, legit sites I got to for work and have gone to for years.

I can get on the site sometimes, but withing 20 seconds or so it times out, then I can't access it at all for hours, then it comes back for a minute or two and gone for hours again.

This happeend before and Comcast said it was a "node" issue and it came back on it's own so far this is not getting any better.

I have tried all of the following suggestions:

Checked for Malware, Spyware, etc..
Changed to OpenDNS
Clone Mac Address in Router
Used Other DNS's
Re-booted, re-fresh, release, re-new, etc...
It's not the sites that are down, confirmed with many others
Not my settings, firewalls, etc...

None of it worked.

Now here is where I am hoping some professionals can figure it out. When I am on my work PC which connects to the Comcast Line but via VPN, I can connect no problem. If I use MegaProxy I can connect no problem, and if I load the AOL software and access the sites via that I can connect no problem.

So why is it that when I connect normally (via IE or Firefox), I can't connect? Im going nuts here trying to figure this out, hopefully somone will have some suggestions. Thx.

I have vpn'ed into my home network this morning, open rdc and it still didn't work. I just did the same test and it appears that my google home page open without a hitch. Might they have fixed things?

On a vpn connection you are using the internet from the local network (the one you are physically connected to)unless there are settings routing all internet traffic thru the tunnel.
