said by rip_sketches :We have had the same issue with our Westell 6100 for months now, every time a thunderstorm would come near the house we would lose sync, that's even if it wasn't actually storming here at our home. But last week it got worse. We had a storm come through that would cause our phones to ring with every lightening strike and after that storm if anyone called the house the modem would then lose sync. After calling to report the issue ATT sent a tech out to test our inside wiring because they claimed that our problem had to be on our side of the NID. The tech showed up and did his thing and our inside wiring tested fine and naturally the Westell decided to be an angel and play nice when calling the house using our cellphones while he was here, staying in sync the entire time. He was nice enough to leave his card with a personal number on it in case we had an issue after he left and sure enough later that night someone calls and we lose sync. He came back the next morning first thing and I was able to demonstrate and repeat the issue while he was here. After changing out filters to no avail he went out to his truck and swapped our Westell 6100 out for a new Netopia modem and to be honest, we haven't had any problems from inclement weather since. Now THAT'S strange. Just curious. What are your DSL stats? |

| reply to Pashune said by Pashune :=/ Looks like I should look into getting a Netopia myself. Something has been really screwy with my 2 Wire modem lately. It's starting to disconnect MORE than the Westell, storming or not. 2Wire's are famous for that. When they work, they're great. Unfortunately, once they get a few years on them, they'll sometimes go wonky.
It would be a technician's nightmare, but the 2Wire has some excellent internal diagnostics. |

Now that, I can agree on. =/ I was hoping Bellsouth would send me a Netopia, but guess what? It was ANOTHER Westell 6100. That makes a set of 3 I have right now. 3, good ol' paperweights. I was curious if there was anything really different about their new E90 6100 mini-model, so I plugged it in and gave it a shot. BAD IDEA. The second I plugged it in, I was put on an interleaved profile. I was on fastpath for months until I tried to use this modem. =/ Looks like I have to get the noise profile removed, once more...aye. |

Aside from the fact that your new modem is reporting interleaved...what changed? Maybe you should give it a try and not be so fast to take on the headache of trying to get it removed. |

The throughput and connection stability seem to be okay, but I was pinging 25 ms to one of my favorite sites, but now, I'm getting about 50 ms to it =/ I use VoIP on occasion, so I'd like to have my connection to have good ping rates and all. I guess I'm just a bit of a perfectionist. *shrug*
I am scratching my head as to why my stats seem to be a bit worse with the NEW Westell. Both are up to date with the latest firmware as far as I know, and I haven't changed anything physically in my connection.
The new E90 model reads 58.0 db attenuation, while my C90 reads 56.0 db attenuation. If I had to blame being placed on interleaved due to another cause...here would be my speculations..
1. Line deterioration somewhere nearby 2. I found my drop dug up today when I was in the backyard. It looks undamaged and fine, but I need to get it back in the ground, asap. 3. My luck in general. |

| I have a Netopia 3346 on the way from E-Bay. I'm currently using the Westell in the "bridged" mode. It's connected to my wireless D-Link router so I can use my laptop on the internet. Is there anything I should know about setting up the Netopia? I assume all I need to do is to set the Netopia the same way. |
