Ignite : Speaking with a few people in the know VM underestimated the demand for bandwidth that their upgrading people from 10 to 20Mbit would cause so are now in a situation where they are having to upgrade their network to cope with the increased load.

Usual symptoms of this congestion will be seeing slower inconsisten speeds at peak times which may or may not improve using newsgroups or other things which open several connections.

There's also the issue of people not having properly tweaked TCP settings, and also an issue with the equipment on the ex-ntl network causing people to not be able to max out their speeds with a single connection, a symptom of this being getting slow speeds on speedtests but being able to max out with newsgroups.

As far as Cableforum goes it's a rather pro-VM site. Its' news stories and posts from its' moderators suggest, being nearly universally pro-VM to the extent that bad news is basically ignored and news stories usually have a pro-VM slant where possible, and some vehemently anti the competition to VM.

Chetnet is run by current and ex VM employees, however is a good and constructive site.
