Re: Safari Beta For Windows

I installed it... but it is a beta... lots of bugs!! I do like the clarity over IE... or even Firefox. There are several who posted they couldn't get Hotmail to work... mine did.

Overall it is pretty cool... and very vivid.

I opened a PDF with no problem, real fast. I also signed in to my yahoo no problem. I wish you could just double click on the tab bar, but at least right click gives you choice. Went here to test it, twice as fast as all other browsers I use.

I installed this and for some reason it picked some random font from my font directory as the default font, it happens to be the 'Brady Bunch' font. Even when I go into properties and select a basic font as default, like 'Verdana' or 'Arial' and even 'Myriad', it still reverts back to this Brady Bunch font. When I removed the Brady font from my machine, some pages now do not display text as the poster above shows in his screenshot.

Does anyone have any ideas why it picked this random font to use when the settings clearly are at default settings?

I know it's beta, but this seems pretty basic.

Where do you manually configure a proxy? I can't find where this is set. Perhaps the devs think everyone uses WPAD for proxy configuration...

I was really excited about this for a few minutes. Then I realized I hardly ever use Windows except to play a few games.

I love how instead of just displaying Shockwave files on the pages I view, it auto saves them to my desktop instead.

Annoying as heck if I visit a page with 5+ Shockwave animations on it, as I get tons of .swf files dumped to my desktop.

IE and Firefox don't do that.

Interesting.

Other than that issue, not bad at all.

OMG, this is the absolute coolest thing I've ever seen a browser do! If you highlight some text, and right click, you can have it search google for you on it's own! Now THAT is cool.
Firefox has had that for years.

Really. The sad thing is that I've been using firefox since the first alpha. I have to get on the ball!

Looks like some vulnerabilities have been exposed. Some were found by that David Maynor loser that "hacked" a Mac with a 3rd party NIC.

Edit: wow...that was interesting. I previewed the post and everything checked out...I post and the URL gets mangled (using Safari/Windows). Another bug...

I don't consider anything he reveals as a vulnerability. He's a serious half-reared hack job.

I installed it last night. Pretty fast. Couple of issues

(1)There isn't a pulldown arrow on the browser address to look at the places you have been. All 3 other browsers have it.

(2) BSOD Vista (first time that has happened for me, and it took an Apple beta to do it

(3) When I try to rightclick on art on Amazon.com, it will open it. When it opens it, then I can right click and save it. Minor annoyance.

Yeah, but Firefox doesn't blink and highlight the one you're on so cooly and crisply. It's absolutely perfect.

Im using it now on my pIII laptop , hehe I like it . I have always like safari, but like any other piece of software there are things you like about it and things you don't.

one thing that bugs me in safari, is the address bar, in firefox for exmple i just click or double click it and the lines highlighted and i can type in where i want to go. safari i either have to backspace through the whole line, or highlight the whole thing with my cursor. Im sure there must be an easyer way that Im missing

EDIT: haha, disregrard that, I just stumbled on how to do it
