Re: Safari Beta For Windows

Finally.. A windows browser I don't mind using. I hope this isn't a sign of even more Apple Software being ported to Windows..

That I would imagine is the idea. Design something good for windows take away users from IE and Firefox and maybe convert them to Mac users
I'm guessing it's probably more along the lines of trying to get more sites to tolerate Safari so there's less problems with the iPhone.

And ensuring that 3rd party iPhone apps can run equally well on Windows and OS X.

To tolerate is easy use the web standards, not the MS web standards which give web programmers pains.

That doesn't make sense. The iPhone runs OSX, how would an app for it run on Windows?

Re: Bonjour???

Bonjour???? Didn't download it because I have never heard of it. Help anyone
A quick Google.....

Safari, Apple’s turbo-charged web browser, uses Bonjour to find any web addresses on your local network — for printer, router or webcam setup and administration, for instance. With the help of Bonjour, iChat AV lets you see which people are available for chatting or video conferencing on your local network, and automatically removes them when they leave. iTunes and iPhoto also use Bonjour to facilitate sharing music and photos on local networks.

Edit: oh! and you can change the order of tabs easily by dragging and dropping.
Try dragging a tab off the tab bar; the tab will come off and make itself a new window. And vice-versa!

Add edit: Hotmail/Window Live Mail still not supported with Safari 3. It still tells me that I need IE 6 or Firefox 1.5 and higher to support the advanced features of Hotmail. But, Hotmail still works though.

How do you install plugins so they work? I just installed the Adobe flash plugin, but it's still not working on a site I visit daily with no issues in Fx. I don't see it in the Safari plugin folder either. I followed the instructions on the Safari site>Adobe site (download .exe and run from desktop). When I check on the Adobe site, it says I have the current version.

Also, I just got an error when clicking the "back" button that caused Safari to close ("Do you want to report this error to MS?"). hmmm.....

And is there any reason why my Windows taskbar won't drop down over the Safari window when it's maximized? A setting perhaps?

Using this actually makes me want to buy a Mac! I know, that sounds sad, but this browser is absolutely amazing. It seems like everything that I want to do is right where I want it! Not to mention, the AA on the fonts is just right - unlike MS Cleartype where it's still hard to read even on a high quality LCD!

Thanks Apple!

Hmmm....I can't preview, then post here either. Only if I choose "I'm feeling lucky" does posting work. If I preview, then click "post" I get taken back to a blank reply box.

Would also allow Windows-based iPhone app developers to easily test their stuff.

Ok, check the flash player problem, it's now working.

EDIT: and so is posting after previewing. Must be a plot, lol.....

Only thing that seems to still be not working (maybe by design?) is I can't get the Windows taskbar to drop down over the Safari window when it's maximized.

Otherwise, it seems pretty nice, I know it's still beta so there might be some glitches.

OMG, this is the absolute coolest thing I've ever seen a browser do! If you highlight some text, and right click, you can have it search google for you on it's own! Now THAT is cool.
