 | Well, they're making a fourth & fifth pass in neighborhoods where they have installed the infrastructure.
Really trying to make sure they convert everyone they possibly can...and lots have. But then I've heard of a couple of instances where they were told to come out and get their kit, the customer was going back to cable.
This was after dealing with overheating Motorola boxes and field techs not able to get the customer set up they way they wanted to be set up in the time the customer wanted.
Uverse trucks have been seen coming back to some of these installs for DAYS and then back again a week or two later. The investment in time reminds me of when ATT was doing the house mounted dishes but worse. Of course some of this is local startup issues with staff I'm sure.
But the foot sellers were out again recently after a few months since we saw them last...they don't want a single house to go unturned in a neighborhood where they made this investment in infrastructure.
Oddly I knew about Proj. Lightspeed long before anyone in this neighborhood and was anxiously awaiting it...but I've decided to hold off. I had expected better package pricing than what they are presenting and I'm not motivated by the TV deal. I'm happy with DSL and I don't watch that much TV. (Don't get me wrong, I am NO fan of the Cable Company either)
The realization that there's sunk cost in the equipment and fiber into the neighborhood that ONLY this neighborhood can pay for just struck me when I saw the ATT sales staff out on foot again recently. They are going to be motivated to pick up every house they can. It's quite a bit different than the DSL game.
So, I wonder when it goes "on sale"? Interesting to ponder them pricing this by neighborhood, factoring in adoption rate and general household income levels. Nah, they'd never do that. | |
