I can't take all the credit for discovering this extension Grail Knight See Profile turned me on to it.

I love these threads because I seem to always find a new tool that is useful but I hate them because I will probably spend the rest of tonight checking out new addons!

Here are the addons that I now consider essential, at least at times:

NoScript 1.1.4.9 - I don't feel safe browsing without this one anymore once I venture from known, trusted sites.

Add Bookmark Here 0.5.5 - I have a lot of bookmarks, with deep subdirectories, I can't live without this one anymore either.

Adblock Plus 0.7.5.1 - I don't like ads so I use this on most of my profiles. I don't recommend it for those visiting my sites though

Forecastfox 0.9.5.2 - Gives me a nice summary of the weather and an easy way to get more details when needed.

Autofill Forms 0.6.1 - I have only been using this for the last month or so but it helps a lot when I am submitting my sites to the various web directories. I tend to not trust new addons unless I know others (usually one of the respected posters in this forum) who have used it, this one I broke that rule after reading the author's forum, he seems to be a good guy with a good tool.

One that I use at times but I have to caution others about is the Google Toolbar. As a website owner I at times want to know the page rank of sites and this addon makes that easy. BUT Google has a terrible privacy policy so I only use this when I take precautions to protect my privacy from Google. If you use Google, or any of it's tools, you should read the recent reports by: Privacy International

Adblock Filterset.G Updater 0.3.1.0
Adblock Plus 0.7.5.1
BBCodeXtra 0.2.5.6 - Good for forums.
Bookmarks Menu Button 0.4.3.4
ColorfulTabs 2.0.4
Compact Menu 2 1.8.1
fireform 0.5.0 - Form filler.
FireFTP 0.96.4 - Particularly good in my opinion.
IE View Lite 1.3
MR Tech Local Install 5.3.2.3
No Squint 1.0.0 - Gives a 'per site' text size increase/decrease.
ReminderFox 1.3 - Never forget a birthday or Anniversary
Remove It Permanently 1.0.6.3 - Remove annoying page elements. Particularly good.
SpoofStick 1.06
Stop-or-Reload Button 0.2.2 - Combines the stop and refresh buttons.
Tab Mix Plus 0.3.6
WellRounded 2.01

No NoScript. Now run sandboxed instead.

I note that IE Tab is on Mozilla'a page of Problematic extensions. The page was last modified 15 June 2007, so it looks like IE Tab is still thought to possibly cause a problem. I don't know how many would agree with that but perhaps worth a mention.

Just a few in one of my profiles...I like to try different extensions to see how they work with the different profiles I use!

Cooliris is my new favorite!

Ones that I would consider ESSENTIAL that I use are:

- FEBE (Firefox Extension Backup Extension, lol a mouthful)
Backs up all your Firefox extensions (other than itself ) in a folder of your choice. Also does history, Firefox preferences, cookies, bookmarks (but I don't use it, see below why) and other backup settings too.

- Foxmarks Bookmarks Synchronizer
Sign up for an account online and allows you to upload all your bookmarks in one place. If you have multiple computers, Foxmarks keeps all the Firefox bookmarks in sync with the server. Of course I keep a hard copy of my bookmarks too.

- Tab Mix Plus
A nice all in one tool for tab solutions. Gets rid of the need for standalone extensions like FLST or Duplicate Tab or Session Saver. Highly highly configurable.

- Rewind/FF buttons
Helps quite a bit if you've got an image gallery or something that you can 'fast-forward' through.

- Stop or Reload button
Hey, you don't need to press stop AND reload . So when a page is loading it'll turn to stop, and when a page is stopped it turns to reload.

- Gmail Notifier
I know Gmail has their own app. But this one is so much more configurable. It allows you to check multiple accounts at the same time, something Gmail's app can't do.

Other not-so-essential but useful/cool extensions:
- ChatZilla - IRC client right in your browser, has all the functions mIRC has, very cool.
- FoxyTunes - if you listen to music while FF'ing, then you need this. It controls your music player from within the browser and supports so many music players.

I'm still browsing through this thread for some more extensions to add to my ever-growing list . I haven't found a need for ad blocking yet though. I find that my anti-spyware/virus utilities (Spy Sweeper and NOD32) does a good enough job keeping away this stuff.

Question About Cookiesafe

I just installed Cookiesafe. It said that it would appear on my taskbar as an icon. However, I can't find it. Can anyone tell me how?

Another I just discovered is ''toolbar buttons''!

Just drag them to where you want them!

One of the reasons is because the author of that extension insists on using an incorrect setting for prefetching which doesn't do anything what so ever. Unless I hacked the extensions it didn't really work, plus why would I go through all that trouble when I can implement everything the FasterFox uses with the above link.

Thanks for the info Lanik. I've implemented GK's speed tweaks and they're terrific. I do love my Firefox!

Wow, after browsing through this thread, I found some useful stuff.

Ever since i reinstalled Firefox due to the hanging problem i had, I only installed the add-ons that I need.

So, here are my current Add-Ons:
-Adblock Plus 0.7.5.1
-Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper 1.0.1
-DOM Inspector 1.8.1.6
-Flashblock 1.5.4.1
-PDF Download 0.8.1
-StumbleUpon 3.06

After reading this topic, I removed/am removing:
-IE Tab (lite version = better)
-Fasterfox (no use for it, manual tweaks seem better)
-StumbleUpon (no use for it as well)

I will add:
-IE View Lite

Now, im off to read that thread to tweak firefox to I can get rid of fasterfox...
