Freestanding DSL is available in Verizon coverage areas only.

Blazing speed—with speed up to 3.0 Mbps, you can download 22 photos or 30 tunes in less than 3 minutes**

** Actual download speeds may vary depending on distance, line quality, and phone service provider.

How can I, as a present DSL customer in a Verizon coverage area, change to freestanding 3.0 Mbps when the availability page says it is available and MyEarthlink page offers no way to do it?

Changes to existing service requires that you make a phone call as it cannot be done online when DSL is already on your POTS line (Now if you have multiple phone lines, then that might or might not be different).

Basically you have to call Earthlink.
