I see on compton.net that there's plans to launch digital phone service. Any chance this is going to be provided soon, or launched in a "testing" phase? I'd gladly switch from my current Vonage account to that in a jiffy if provided, as long as it has free long distance back to the States either included or optional.

| We are currently looking at the end of September as a launch date for public service. There won't be free long distance - it's basically going to be a Bell replacement service, we're not following the Vonage model. That being said, LD to the US will be pretty cheap, compared to Bell and other LD providers. |

Is there any estimated prices (ballpark)? From what I gather, $50 will get you unlimited local and long distance through Bell:
$19.13 for unlimited local
$00.19 for 911
$02.80 for touch-tone fee
$24.94 for unlimited long distance to the US & Canada
$02.84 for GST
$03.77 for PST
Lower that by 5-10 and add caller id, I'd sign up in a heartbeat. BTW, based on my Vonage usage so far this month (from June 1 - yesterday), I used nearly 2200 long distance minutes, since I'm on the phone constantly to Atlanta. |
