Update for Samsung LCD and Fios issue

Hi,
I went to the AVSforum and got a tip on newer Firmware for my Set.. It seems to work fine now with the HDMI port.
Thx

The exact date I was given by someone was "August 8" - we'll see, I guess.
noping, that sounds about right. August 8 would be the first full day with the new guide.

I base my guess of August 7th on the fact that any upgrades, or channel adds Verizon has done,
have seemed to always occur early on a Tuesday morning.

The latest group of HD channels are the most recent example, the boxes started power cycling themselves at 2:30AM sharp, and downloading the new channel map.

I guess we will have to wait and see, but from what I was told previously, they all seem to point to that week of August 5th through 11th.

Since you were told essentially the same thing, I think we shall see what happens shortly.

Makes sense if they are swapping cards with different firmware or REV. level.

I'm just afraid that whatever they replaced might not be compatible with the new IMG software,
and another hardware swap is imminent before they push the new IMG.

By piecing together what everyone has been told by Verizon, it sounds like we are due to see the new guide in PA/DE/South Jersey, sometime in early August.

Possibly the week of the 5th to 11th, with my bet being around Verizon's Witching Hour(2:30AM) on Tuesday August 7th.

I still can't believe this. For 2 months the picture quality sucks, and there is no problems found.

Verizon, don't touch ANYTHING. PLEASE DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!! This is P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!!
KA3-
Remember, they told us they wouldn't consider swapping hardware until they "found the problem". Lo and behold the problem was the hardware itself.

Whatever they did Thursday night TOTALLY screwed up my picture. Now all SD channels are grainy, and all HD channels are breaking up and tiling with audio drop outs. I am calling tomorrow and demanding that they roll back whatever changes they put in. My neighbors are seeing it too, and we're all calling en masse to put a stop to this madness.

Just kidding. Congrats on the seeming end to this long, regional nightmare.

Then something breaks, and they swap parts, now everything looks awesome, and the PQ is back to what it was Pre-May 19.

I hope this is not the backup unit, and the primary will be back sometime mid-next week.

I watched DVR'd shows from Tues and Wed yesterday. Man, it was tough. I couldn't wait to delete them.

We watched our Thursday night SD recordings (World Series of Pop Culture / Hey Paula) tonight. Whoa. That was worse than I'd ever seen it before. Breakups and tiling and sound drop outs.

I'm glad I never saw it fully until after I knew it was fixed (it is fixed...right?) because I'd be freaking out. And I was able to tell my wife "Oh, yeah. I heard about this. It's fixed now." to keep her quiet about it.

SciFi channel back to normal here. It's the Sox battle this weekend - Red vs. White. Sorry, pulling for CWS here - Jim Thome's home and where we got Aaron Rowand.

As consolation, consider yourself lucky that you're not a Rangers fan (there are a few around ).

Great JeepMatt, I wonder what equipment exactly did they replace? Any way you could find out as it would help in future trouble shooting for the outside techs if you could find out and post or pm me, I will also try and do some checking on my end to see if we are one big networked company or not *lol*

That's downright WRONG!

C'mon now, our team ERA of 4.95 is great!

I am pullin' for your Sox though - rather them than the Yanks.

Sorry to read the ongoing saga of your picture quality problems. Hope this last fix is the final fix and you can enjoy the PQ most of the rest of us have.
While Verizon has had you distracted with this problem, your Phillies have gone from 2 games out to six. Time to get your attention back to the important stuff.
Good luck with your picture quality and your pitching quality the rest of the season.

Proves their theory about the new guide fixing it was a lie.

Thanks - but my theory is that maybe they "didn't" replace the hardware last time - and just did a band-aid.

Thoughts?

Jeep, I agree. I have been flipping the channels since I got home this afternoon.

Blocking and tiling problems seem to be fixed, SD and HD PQ looks excellent.

My only concern is that we are going into a weekend, so they'll be shutting off the lights and locking the doors shortly.

I DO really hope this fix is permanent, and we won't be placed back on the original equipment.

Whatever they replaced this time, is the same thing they replaced last time, on May 21st, that started this whole thing.
If what they have been hinting at is true, we should see the new IMG within the next 3 weeks, and if the PQ stays this good I can't wait.

JeepMatt,

I really glad to hear that! You're still gonna keep 'em busy for a few days closing out problem tickets...
