Re: Continuing Picture Quality Degredation In Philadelphia

OK, it's on SciFi right now. Annoying pixelation and macro blocking. They're messing with SuperGator. DNA transformed alligator chases girls. My husband is watching it.

Ticket PADQ669845 is added to the list. Note: PA users need the PA prefix, DE users need the DE prefix on the trouble tickets. They're all linked.

Rep was very courteous and sympathetic. No info on status, but was sympathetic. I told him that he was lucky it wasn't Sunday afternoon with the Eagles on. With no hesistation, he stated he was a Redskins fan. 'nuff said.

SuperGator???

Hey, no one messes with SuperGator...

He needs to stop chasing girls, and start chasing Verizon Video Engineers.

Hey kids-
Just got back home - didn't turn on the TV though.

Gustavo tells me they are pretty sure they've found the problem, and will wait again until "safe time" overnight to fix it.

I'm to report to him in the AM if i'm still seeing any issues.

Also, apparently they DO NOT want you to use our existing ticket numbers. (Go figure). So if you call in on your own, please have your own # established.

I had some minor tiling the last two days on some channels which continued until about 10 pm. All channels are perfect now!

I put on the tube for a few minutes this morning - looks better.

VZ - if you want to raise my bill $5 / month to invest in an actual monitoring system, go right ahead!

(Knocking on wood sound)

Everything looks okay so far today. Checked out a half a dozen problem channels from yesterday – looks great.

Something happened last night here at least. I was recording a movie on at 2:44 a.m. and it shows up in my DVR list in two pieces – must have rebooted or something at 1:07 into the movie. The second section is the rest of the movie and starts time-wise when the other left off. So it lost less than 1 minute. Haven't checked yet to see exactly how much it skipped.

Could you imagine if you were a new install yesterday?

Tech: "Here's your brand-new crystal-clear picture!"

Customer: "Uhhh, why is the picture breaking up all the time?"

Tech: "Uhhhh...hmmmmm....uhhhh..."

So is it finally over? I can't believe it. It took a group ticket and a bunch of angry people for them to find the problem? Let us know on Monday how the weekend was.

Well, mine looked okay this AM when I flipped through a number of channels that were hell last night.

It took 4 days (really this started Monday - as that's when I first noticed it), multiple personal tickets, a group ticket, 2 attempts at a fix, and the grace of God.

Luckily this weekend is supposed to rock weather-wise here in the DE area (nice and cool) - so hopefully i'll be out ridin' around with the Jeep top down and not watching TV.

Cross your fingers and say a prayer for us Mat. Oh yeah, and send us those new MTV audio channels!

They were scrolling a message on Weatherscan about tuning into them. I can't believe you don't have them yet.

Nope we don't have them yet. I wonder what the hold-up is. I'm also wondering if I should call in about it. Anyone else not have them yet?

Word I had been told was that there were "technical difficulties" with the rollout.

Well, i'm now home and had a chance to watch some TV.

Picture is back to perfect- I mean, EVERYTHING.

So, the hardware that was replaced last night at the Philly VHO (which was confirmed to me) - not only cleared up the 4-day tiling mess, but, it also erased my TWO months of degraded picture quality.

Hmmm..two months ago we had a similar tiling issue - hmmmm.. I think you know where i'm going with this...

My SD's look as sharp as they did when I signed up in January - and the HD's are outstanding.

Wow - and they told me it was my TV? Thanks Verizon for physically proving yourself wrong!

Now, about that 2-month service credit I should get.....

Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.

Did a quick cursory scan earlier this afternoon, looks fine so far - no tiling. Planning to check more later tonight.

Service credit implies that they'd have to admit something was definitely wrong with the service over the past two months. It's a problem with your expensive tee-vee, man, all should be fixed when 2.0 is pushed out...

JeepMatt,

I really glad to hear that! You're still gonna keep 'em busy for a few days closing out problem tickets...

Jeep, I agree. I have been flipping the channels since I got home this afternoon.

Blocking and tiling problems seem to be fixed, SD and HD PQ looks excellent.

My only concern is that we are going into a weekend, so they'll be shutting off the lights and locking the doors shortly.

I DO really hope this fix is permanent, and we won't be placed back on the original equipment.

Whatever they replaced this time, is the same thing they replaced last time, on May 21st, that started this whole thing.
If what they have been hinting at is true, we should see the new IMG within the next 3 weeks, and if the PQ stays this good I can't wait.

KA3-
Thanks - but my theory is that maybe they "didn't" replace the hardware last time - and just did a band-aid.

Thoughts?

Proves their theory about the new guide fixing it was a lie.
