Stand alone DSL has been available in the old 9 state Bellsouth area for the past month. Call up and ask for Bundle 90 or Bundle 97 (97 requires you have Cingular to bundle with it, but it gives you $5 additional dollars off your cell bill which will be combined).
And the $10 deal is for all 22 states and no it isn't advertised - you have to click on the link for "term contracts".
BTW, $10 for a 768K connection with the price set in stone for 2.5 years isn't enough for you? Comcast is charging me $29.99 per month for a 300K connection and if I want it to be faster it will cost $55.
Also keep in mind DSL Lite prior to June 1st was 256k and $24.95 per month. So cutting the price by over 60% and tripling the speed and you're complaining? What a jackhole. |

This may help customers who can't get DSL now:
By December 31, 2007, AT&T/BellSouth will offer broadband Internet access service
(i.e., Internet access service at speeds in excess of 200 kbps in at least one direction) to 100
percent of the residential living units in the AT&TBellSouth in-region territory. 2 To meet this
commitment, AT&T/BellSouth will offer broadband Internet access services to t least 85
percent of such living units using wireline technologies (the "Wireline Buildout Area").
AT&T/BellSouth will make available broadband Internet access service to the remaining living
units using alternative technologies and operating arrangements, including but not limited to
satellite and Wi-Max fixed wireless technologies. But it seems that it won't be, as there's no pricing on the non-wireline service. So big whoop. E.g. it's no help if I can get WildBlue through them, for more than I'd pay WildBlue directly.
It'll be interesting if folks who get the $10 service get billed the usual BS add-on fees (beyond the usual applicable taxes and regulatory fees) that normally get tacked on, despite the commitment herein.

I think you can not say ALL ATT customers that would be new to dsl. The hook is that it is in the states where at&t is the ILEC. at&t is a CLEC in a number of locales as well and this offer would, in theory, not apply there.
Kinda makes sense though because nothing assures at&t they would be able to buy from the ILEC at a price that would allow $10 to the customer. |

Which I read as ALL ATT customers (that would be new to ATT DSL) I'm just kicking myself for not being patient by 5 days as I just signed up for my first ever DSL with another company. I thought I had interpereted the agreement wrong and thought it was for areas that previuosly didn't have any DSL available from ATT or Bellsouth. Yeah and the $15 vs $10 differnce over a year is $60 which I know for you latte drinkers ain't nothin but for me it's something! |

I don't know what a dry line is but the agrrement says 85% land line and the rest wi-fi, satellite or other. |

Oh, and by the way... I thought this "deal" made with ATT was to offer DRY LINE DSL.
As in NO land line required. Is that what this $10 deal is?

Remember it was for the OLD BELLSOUTH Territory pre-merger agreements. 10 not 14.99 you both are not in this territory. |

If you read the agreement,»72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:LBL···lnk&cd=3 this is exactly what it said. To be implemented within 6 months (July 1) to continue at least 30 months. I also interpreted the $10/mo to be applied to buildout areas which as far as I know are areas that didn't previously have DSL but I am not a lawyer. |

PS: Edit, if I put in a Gainesville, FL (closest Bell South to me) it comes up $19.95 for 768 tier one. They must have a sweeter deal with the FL Public Service Commission or someone in the state. Check it out, enter 352-376-xxxx on their site, which is a very old Gainesville NXX exchange.

They don't make it readily available.
They say it's for "new customers" only.
And you don't make them stick to it for more than 2.5 years.
Why bother? Why didn't you say, "do it now, and make a plan that is forever and costs 50% of the cost of your mid-tier plan"?
