3cr870-95 not full speed

i have a 3com office connect, 3cr870-95 router and it worked great until time warner did an upgrade to their system. i'm supposed to get a cap of 15mb/s and i only top out at 7.5 mb/s. just for giggles i put in an older netgear router i have and i get close to and above the cap speed. any idea's as to what is going on?

Sounds very wrong... I tested the 3CR870-95 when it came out, on my corporate network at that time, and got around 50 Mbps through it. That was one of the early firmware versions but still I'd be surprised if it can't manage similar performance now!
What sort of thing were you using to test it? The performance tests on this site?

There's one obvious thing which would cause this - which got me the first time my cable company upgraded the speed - I'd set QoS to be on, with a limit of just under the old speed... you haven't set your bandwidth via QoS settings to be 7.5Mbps, have you?

Thinking a bit, I guess it's possible that something is causing a slowdown... one obvious candidate might be content filtering - is it enabled? Though it's supposed to cache categories so should only slow a site down the first time you hit it!
Might be worth trying some different sorts of data... let us know what you find!

i reset the whole router to orginal manufacturers settings, and change the admin password. i ran several speed tests from several differant places. i'm going to go back and scope out your suggestions and see what i can come up with. i like the 3com better than the net gear because it seems to manage data flow better especially with using vonage.
