| [Connectivity] packet loss through jacksonville fl comcast hsi
I have comcast hsi I live in lake city florida. Prior to comcast taking over this area from TW my service was great. I use a voip phone from voice pulse for 3 years now. After comcast takeover many frequent outages ..every day several times a day and packet loss through one particular ip address between me and voice pulse (68.86.168.189). Using ping plotter show a very frequent packetloss of 10-30 percent on this part of the hops through jacksonville. t ~ $ whois 68.86.168.189 Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. JUMPSTART-2 (NET-68-80-0-0-1) 68.80.0.0 - 68.87.255.255 Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. COMCAST-8 (NET-68-86-128-0-1) 68.86.128.0 - 68.86.255.255 the only problem with my internet connection is this one ip address and it is constant as you can see by the picture. I have called comcast help line and I might as well bang my head on the wall. who can I contact with comcast to resolve this issue ... the graph above looks the same every day all day any time of day providing my internet connection is working |

| Re: [Connectivity] packet loss through jacksonville fl comcast h
You have to route through hop 6 to get to every other hop in that traceroute, and they all show 0% loss.
"Packet loss" on router hops is a normal condition, see: »Re: Major problems at specific hop. Comcast, look at this now!!

| Ping request priority is set to low... some routers will drop *ALL* ping requests and show 100% loss - yet the rest of the hops past it will show 0% loss.

why is it only on that 1 router and not all It's probably getting hit harder than the rest. If you could get everybody else to stop hammering it with traffic that requires a response, I'm sure you could get it back to 0% loss.

| reply to dvfdvdfxv Hey from the Jacksonville Area! There was an Outage on Monday due to some Fiber Cuts. It was Fiber connecting Jacksonville, to Lake City. Of course it was repaired that day as well. Are you having issues with connection now? As the previous posts have stated there that PingPlotter doesn't tell us much at all. Let's start here first and go from there. »Comcast High Speed Internet FAQ »How To Get Help!

| reply to albyjr When you ratelimit ICMP, the more ICMP that passes through that router, the more likely it is to show this "packet loss."
You'll see more traffic (and thus more ICMP) the closer you get to the exit points, since most people aren't staying local to Comcast's network but are instead going elsewhere on the Internet. |

| but my voip call quality has gone down hill since comcast takeover, thats when I looked to ping plotter and saw the packet loss I assumed that had a direct relation to my lack of call quality on voip, what else can I look at as nothing else with my connection to the internet has changed. |
