This ISP utilizes WiMax in my area. Can't comment on it's reliability first hand, but people seem to like it.

Thanks for the links. Neither site specifically states whether they use Wi-Max or some other wireless technology. Sympatico sounded suspiciously possible with their 3 mbit limit and 5 mile range. Are we using the term "Wi-Max" loosely to describe wireless in general ? Not tying to split hairs, just curious. I have never heard of any commercial deployments of real Wi-Max. Even so, 3 mbits with an indoor self install is not too bad whether it is real Wi-Max or 900 Mhz Motorola canopy. |
