| SunRocket out of money? In his subscription only Daily T1R, Daniel Berringer postulates that SunRocket may have their lights turned out soon. It seems the reports I've been hearing around the Valley are that their CEO has been on the "money trail" around Silicon Valley, but not getting any takers.

| CEOs are always on the hunt for cheap cash -- that's their job. I wouldn't read too much into that -- when they come back with 2 for 1 offers to try to pry $199 from a few extra new customers, that would be a more telling sign of an impending problem. | |

Based on that logic, VT should be ready to shut its doors. On the other hand, should SR permit existing customers to participate in upcoming 2-for-1 deals, that could be a telling sign.

| Re: SunRocket out of money? said by rizzo2dial :Based on that logic, VT should be ready to shut its doors. That's too much of a stretch for me ... SR had at least a year head start on VT ... wouldn't be a shock if VT soon slowed its use of that promo as SR did last fall ... also, VT is a side business of another successful (we're told) enterprise, so there could be some subsidization going on ... SR is standalone with no other business units to help with the cash flow, or to offset or share expenses ... | |

You mean SR isn't an aeronautics firm running a VoIP business on the side as a means of developing/bolstering communications for their eventual solar missions on Sun Rockets?

Perhaps more interesting to me is that this thread was apparently in jail for a while last night; it showed up linked but was not accessible.

We keep coming back to the same issue....if SR is as bad as you keep repeating for the last year or so, why haven't you bailed out yet?
It does appear that they were absent for the business 101 classes, but as strange as it may sound, for me, the service works quite well. As I have said, I don't need but a very few of the features, and those have worked. The fail safe feature would be nice, but again, I live very well with the SimRing, and even if the portal is down, I have called in to support and they switch it right over for me.
Hopefully they will continue to remain in business and not be affected by the Verizon/Vonage battle that went to court today.

I don't understand why people bash it all the time.
For people having SR and complain about it, one advice, MOVE ON. There are plenty of players out there. I will too if my SR sound quality starts to degrade.

@xmission.com | I am a creditor of SunRocket and for what it is worth, they have not paid me for months! To say the least, I am disgusted with the company.

| Re: SunRocket out of money? Well I doubt that will happen with so many numbers that have been ported in.
Something tells me Level 3 (or whoever their termination partner) has a specific clause in their contract that says they can terminate the contract, then contact the end user directly if there is breach.
Obviously Level 3 will not want to do this directly however they may sell you to someone.
I have contracts with termination carriers that have that clause.

| What makes you think that they will close the doors? I believe that they are simply clearing some deadwood from their staff so that they may continue to grow.
Should Vonage go belly up, SunRocket would be a prime beneficiary as it is now the VOIP leader.

| Re: SunRocket out of money? Judging by the posts in this forum you wouldn't get a good picture of Sunrocket, but out on the rest of the net surprisingly Sunrocket is regarded pretty well. Om Malik thinks pretty highly of them (saw a post on his gigom site) as well as the myvoipprovider website...they are rated as one of the top 100 voip providers. -- "So this is how liberty dies. You did not seriously give them $700 did you? So when they do belly up, wonder what happens to our service/numbers? I don't really think they have any chance of coming out of bankruptcy, how does the switch get pulled in the end? I don't see why Vonage or anyone else would take on the debt of all these contracts without any revenue coming in. Yep, this is our friendly troll under another nick, who tried to convince all of us that we should keep buying in to SR because they were the best-run VOIP . If they take a dump, I wonder if he'll be singing the same song as an unsecured creditor in bankruptcy court. | |

2 edits | Re: SunRocket out of money? SunRocket's death is greatly exaggerated. For me, it has been a fine service. This is my third year as a subscriber and I have experienced very few problems.
In the unlikely event that SunRocket were to go out of business, I would be disappointed however, you win some and you lose some.

I haven't seen ONE thread go by without someone mentioning ViaTalk A mod should censor it or something. Interesting, I don't see anyone trolling for them here. The reason VT is mentioned along with SR (in vice versa I would add) is because they both offer two for one deals quite regularly and that can make a good base for comparison.
