Bird Crap on mailbox?

The birds have been crapping all over my mailbox
out at the side of the road.

It was looking so crappy, I just put a fresh coat
of paint on it this afternoon.

I was just out there checking on the paintjob.

There is Bird Shit on it Already!

It is painted ' Hunter Green ' to match our shutters and front door.

What can I do, to keep the Birds off?

Maybe, I was just reading about some type of gooey stuff that the Birds don't like to stand on? But...I'm not sure about that, and then there is supposed to be some kind of 'grape smelling'? spray.

I was thinking, Maybe, it's the color of the mailbox?

bird repellents...

Other chemical products include bird repellents. Several sticky, polybutene gel products are available. One or more zigzag lines of gel are applied like caulking to surfaces birds land on. The glue-like gels do not contain poison but birds find them sticky and are reluctant to land. They are most effective when only a few birds are present (too many birds attempting to land will eventually remove the gel). Gel products must be applied to clean, non-porous or sealed surfaces, and must be scraped off and reapplied every year or two to maintain their effectiveness.

Another bird repellent is an extract of grape flavoring (methyl anthranilate). Several brands are available that can be sprayed onto trees, grass and other surfaces. The material is labeled for use against geese and several other species.

Birds do not stand while crapping, they just fly and hit. I have a neighbor that seems to think that it is okay to feed every winged parasite out there. Every day I have to get out the hose and clean off the crap off of the pool & also find it in the pool at the bottom.

My postman leaves shit in my mailbox. If I hose my mailbox out, the bills are hard to read.

What's annoying is that the shit weighs 10 times as much as normal mail, and it costs 1/10 the same amount. And I have to dig through the shit to find my bills.

Do you have anything above the mailbox, like a tree, street light, utility poll, powerline, etc? Are the birds actually landing on the mailbox or are just near and "dive bombing" it?

Go to craft store and get 1/2 to 3/4" wide silver mirrored (both sides) ribbon 2 to 3 feet long. Hang it on or near the mail box. It needs to be long enough to have sun shine flicker in slight breeze. The birds hate it and will stay away. Best part is that you won't get arrested for shooting, poisoning, or having spikes on mail box. After a week take down ribbon - done.

Build a little roof over the mailbox.
