Had a chance to use Commiecast, but it was VERY pricey - even for basic service (installation fees, digital basic was $60 + $100 installation fee + remote rental, etc, etc)

AT&T U-verse is still not complete here in my area (VRAD doesn't have power yet), pricing is competitive

DirecTv - works for me.
Commiecast? Comcrap I can see, but Commie would indicate communism, wherein all the people are supposed to receive the same from the government. Yeah, I know that's not accurate, but you can't use that for that giant company!

Guess you were getting ripped off. You need to call 1-800-COMCAST instead of your local office.

I'm getting like 170 all-digital channels. Comcrap FINALLY went all digital in our town, but only on the TV with the box; both of my cable-readies get analog channels, and my local channel 10 has a ghost on both those, but when I had DicTV I had to pay monthly for every TV, because you HAVE to have a receiver for every TV. My dad has Fish Network, and they offer 2 TVs on 1 dual-tuner PVR box, but demanded an extra $350 installation to wire it up that way, because he already had cables in his walls, and they said they'd have to fish new wires to "back-feed" and to feed the receiver with 2 inputs, then an output going to the 2nd TV, so he ended up with 2 boxes, and had to pay a bunch more because he got all stuck on the idea of a PVR for both his TVs, since that's what the yahoo at RadioShack got him hooked on. But dad has money to burn.

I also get all the HBOs, Showtimes, and Starz!s, kick-butt OnDemand catalog (I haven't even been able to unearth all the titles, let alone actually watch a significant amount of it. PLUS all the Music Choice channels... DicTV includes the music channels in their count of 155 channels, and Fish Network counts their music channels in their 60, 120, 180 packages my dad can get. My bill syas the video portion is $64.

I ponied up the extra $10 per month on the internet making it $43 instead of $33 to get 16Mbps downstream with what they call powerboost of 32 Mbps short-term bursts, with 2 Mbps upstream. I ran several of the tests at dslreports.com, and found I had sustained throughput of about 20Mbps, and one speed test allged I had 40.68 Mbps bursts, and upstream was consistently about 3.85 Mbps.

I got phone, too, which I really didn;t need since I've only had wireless for 4 years, but it worked out CHEAPER to include the landline because like Verizon FiOS or Cavalier, it's all or mouy expensive if you go all-a-cart! Especially since that made the install free going with their triple threat. FREE INSTALL. 3 TVS! No $100 install. Whoever you talked to must make commission based on total amount of sale, instead of SPIFFs like we had at RadioShack. I remember GIVING a customer a phone, and a penny ($99.99 phone with $100.00 instant rebate meant we actually had to GIVE a penny to the customer!) and I got a 220 SPIFF for that!

I also got Conbest's DVR, cheaper monthly than Tivo, and no stinkin tivo box to buy. The only bummer there is I cannot remove the hard drive like I could with my ReplayTV box, and it won't transfer shows to the computer using the CAT5 wire like my Replay, but my Replay is now out of warranty; if it dies, I need to trash it, or I will have to buy a new one, since I paid for a "lifetime" membership. Dumb, I know now.

Anyway, I got that for $150 per month. They said $130, but I got the $10 double-speed internet, and the DVR is $10 extra. The install was free, but there was some "activation" fee on my first bill of $30. The dude on the phone, after waiting 15 minutes to talk to him, said that was like when I signed up with Single-Air. Something about programming the public phone system to recognize where to send those calls to.

Anyway, call the 800 number, man. This is the age of sales. Someody there will kick you a sweet deal. They want customers. The only crappy thing was that i had to sign a contract, but you have to sign one for DicTV, Fish Network, Verizon DSL, Cavalier DSL, Single-Air, SplintPOS, and so on. So far, I ain't switchin! It's Craptastic!
