From what I read, Jobs went to Verizon first, and Verizon didn't like Apple's terms so they they had to go with their second choice, ATTSingularATT.
Jobs talking about how they needed coverage in "every nook and cranny" is pure un distilled spin. If the iPhone was on Verizon, they would be hyping that up, too.
I like my Mac, but I'm getting a little sick of the Apple hype. I mean, get a grip, people. IT'S A CELL PHONE.

| That's because the key to corporate happiness is to make customer happiness dependent on buying the next gadget to nirvana. Busy people with money to burn is one thing, but for most folks an outlay like this is a road to back to square one (and worse after their CC bills pile up). Good marketers don't take PSY classes for nothing. You have to wonder if Apple isn't pushing brand loyalty -- and consumer psyche -- just a bit too far on this one, though. -- | |
